The VAT can be added to a) the content, b) category, and c) articles.
VAT Inheritance and Flow to an Article
VAT linked to the article applies.
When no VAT is linked to the article, it checks for the VAT linked to the category and applies.
If no VAT is linked to the category, the VAT linked to the content is applied.
Taxes on articles
When you add taxes (VAT) on an article, the tax you set at this level applies on to this article. To set up taxes on category or content read the below sections.
1. Admin > Customize > Content. Click to edit the app.
2. Click on the article, then select, 'More options.' Then select the 'VAT' tab.
Below shows that the article is inheriting the VAT from its parent, it could be a category if the article sits inside a category. If not, it can be the content:
Click on the message 'Inheriting from parent category or offer' to override the VAT, and select the 'Choose existing button and link the tax:
Enable 'Expense' to exempt the VAT for this article:
Use this option for vouchers, and certain items where the tax is not applicable in your region.
3. Save changes.
Taxes on categories
When you add taxes (VAT) on a category, you ensure all articles under this category inherit this tax unless you change for certain articles as shown in the above section.
1. Admin > Customize > Content. Click to edit the app.
2. Click on the category and choose the 'Edit' option. Then select, 'More options.' Select the 'VAT' tab.
Below shows that the article is inheriting the VAT from its parent, it could be a category if the article sits inside a category. If not, it can be the content:
A Category can have another category as its parent since you can create sub-categories in Zappter.

Taxes on content
When adding taxes (VAT) on content level, you ensure all, including your articles and categories inherit these taxes by default unless you change them at article or category levels as shown in above sections.
1. Admin > Customize > Content. Click to edit the app.
2. Click on Advanced and select, 'Value added taxes>.'
3. Click on the 'Choose existing' and select the VAT.
